Training

Code 3 Associates presents or coordinates a diverse and informative set of academies and classes focused on animal issues in humane investigations and disaster response. These courses are designed to educate and inform a wide variety of professionals, including animal control officers, veterinary professionals, first responders, animal welfare workers, Department of Agriculture employees and members of animal rescue groups, among others. Nationally accepted certifications are offered for the classes where there are recognized standards. For the classes that do not yet have accepted standards, Code 3 is working to develop certifications while continuing to offer these very important subjects. In all cases, the instructors used are experts in their field and have been chosen for their dynamic style of instructing.

Effective May 16th, 2005, CODE 3 ASSOCIATES, INC. is proud to announce a partnership agreement between Code 3 and the Law Enforcement Training Institute of the University of Missouri-Columbia. Code 3 will replace the Humane Society of the United States' Humane University as the primary academic coordinator for the curriculum and faculty of the National Cruelty Investigations School.

As a result of this partnership, LETI and Code 3 are also announcing new program changes. The first is an addition of a Level IV-Update to the NCIS curriculum. Level IV will be an evolving curriculum designed to keep students abreast of changing techniques and technologies in animal cruelty investigations. This course has been designed for students who completed two of the three levels prior to 2003 and for future students who will be able to update their skills every two to three years following completion of the three core levels.

The second major program change is the creation of two new certification programs, through the University of Missouri, for both the National Cruelty Investigations School and the Equine Investigations Academy. Those students who have achieved successful completion of 120 hours, (Levels I, II and III) of the NCIS will receive certification as a "Certified Humane Investigator." Further, those students who successfully complete the required hours for both Levels I and II of the Equine Investigations Academy will receive certification as a "Certified Equine Investigator."

Those students who have successfully completed the necessary hours/levels prior to the announcement date are elegible for certification upon application to LETI.
