Every year people and animals fall through iced over ponds, lakes, streams and rivers. Unfortunately, in many cases human life is lost trying to save an animal that has fallen through the ice. All first responders and rescuers need to know how to affect a rescue without becoming a victim themselves. Participants will learn the proper techniques for human and animal rescue from cold or ice covered waters. Instruction will include safety considerations and how to use normally available and specialized equipment. Techniques specific for animal rescue will be demonstrated and performed as well as rescuing the human victims.
This class is certified through Rescue 3 International and meets all NFPA requirements for Ice Rescue Technician training, taught by certified instructors.
The ICE faculty may include Kim Little, Jim Boller, Nan M. Stuart and Kelsey the wonder dog.
