Big Useful Livestock Lessons
»Super Saver Rates and class schedule are listed below.
When it comes to small companion animals, the rescuers can usually count on enough strength to overcome most situations. But what happens when the victim is up to ten times your weight? In situations from a horse and rider over an embankment, to a tractor trailer rolled over on the interstate hauling dozens of horses, cows or other livestock, specialized skills and techniques are called for.
This two-day class will bring rescuers up close and personal with the animals they may have to rescue. Rescuers will also be exposed to and will practice emergency trailer loading and extracting techniques. Other skills learned are how to safely deal with large animals in emergency situations; how to use what you already have to affect a rescue; specialized equipment that can make rescue more efficient; rope and harnessing systems to move large animals; the role of the veterinary professional; and how to deal with animals after they are rescued.
Participants will spend approximately half of their time participating in hands-on exercises with the other half being classroom instruction. When large animals are in trouble, personnel such as fire, rescue, law enforcement, animal control officers, livestock professionals, veterinary professionals and anyone else who wants to be part of the solution is encouraged to take this two-day course.
